Design Week 2012Hope Folly Workshop Golrokh Khakzar, Hossein Ahmadi, Farhad Tayyebi

The main aim of this workshop is providing a folly for a school by means of landfill material accumulated in E.M.U. Energy Material Building as a system 40% raw material 20-26% landfill 36-45% national energy 100% Energy The raw materials of the workshop are the useless substances of University and the construction process. Any building can be seen as a system which consume raw material and make landfill masses which makes pollution and problem for environments. This workshop used this waste and handy material to build a useful object for children. Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly: This workshop has being held in three days, which although at first it seemed to be so much hard and maybe inapplicable but little by little and going through the process, the procedure clarified. Which is mentioned in following pages:

Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly: The process started by a conference about the workshop and the process is leaded by Asst. Prof. Dr. Beril Ö. Mayer and Dr. Aslie. First Day

In regard to the material the designing process was being started with an academic discussion. First Day Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly:

In the second days, students presented the proposal for the folly which the concepts has been designed in their each group. Second Day Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly:

After discussion about the proposal, the good location and situation of the folly was discussed with the school managers. Second Day Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly: In this visit, by analyzing the children’s painting to understand their desires and needs, the final design decision is made.

Useful material for the design is excerpted and picked up and transferred to the site for making the folly. Second Day Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly:

The transferred material is cleared and purified by students. Third Day Material Analysis: Site Analysis: Conference: Brain storm: Children Dreams: Design Collection: Material Purification: Excerpting Materials: Making the Folly:
