6 Summary of 2007 Changes (p. 2) Shipment of additional test materials will be via UPS Ground service, unless expedited shipping is desired (Customer will be responsible for the cost of the expedited shipping) (see p. 13) Glossary of assessment-related terms has been moved to the end of manual Online testing material pickup website name changed to (see p. 41) Student barcode labels included with Test Coordinator’s Kit

7 Changes (cont.) No released items for Mathematics or Communication Arts this year (only Social Studies and Science) Carbonless paper not available this year Content area labels no longer contain grade levels Unused test books do not need to be placed in white envelopes before boxing

All scorable test books will be returned to the same scoring site using shipping labels All unused test books must be boxed separately, using white shipping labels Part 2 of Session 3 in Social Studies is optional and therefore does not have to be administered Examiner’s Manuals for CA and Math are now grade-level specific. Both content areas are in the same manual for each grade level 3-8.

9 Changes cont. Color-coded spine bars have been added to test books as an aid for sorting assessments by grade level The School Building Survey is no longer required

10 Guidelines for Testing (p. 3) Inclusion of Special Populations IAP (504) accommodations made by appropriate professionals IEP team decides and documents accommodations; all must take MAP or MAP- A MAP-A students must have MAP test book returned with MAP-A coded ELL students in U.S. 12 months or less may be exempted from taking only MAP Communication Arts test –If coded appropriately, results will not be included in AYP or MSIP

11 All students must be accounted for when administering the MAP There are only 2 groups who are not required to take the MAP –Group 1: MAP-A students’ books must be turned in with barcode label and a completed SIS for content areas assessed –Group 2: ELL students in the U.S. less than 12 months may be exempt from taking only the Communication Arts test

Student Status Definitions (pp. 4-5) Gifted – Any student who has been identified for or has participated in district’s formal gifted program H.S. Career Education – Students in grades 9-12 in approved course by DESE –Approved programs can be viewed at:

34 Securing Testing Materials (p. 18) No testing materials may be photocopied, duplicated, or made accessible to non-testing personnel Teachers should not review test books before test (SPED teachers pre-selecting and translators are the only exceptions) When not in use, secure materials in locked room or cabinet Save DTC Folder and boxes for use after administration

35 5 Steps in Securing Testing Materials 1.DTC verify that every school has all testing materials secured at all times 2.DTC distribute the materials to all STC’s in the district 3.STC distribute Examiner’s Manuals as soon as possible to all who will administer the test 4.STC collect all students’ draft work and securely destroy 5.DTC deliver appropriate number and type of test books and ancillary testing materials to students’ out-of-district school prior to the first day of testing and make arrangements for returning materials

36 Materials Needed for Each Examiner (p. 19) Examiner’s Manual for appropriate grade level and content area Appropriate quantities of books, manipulatives and reference sheets as needed Student barcode labels for each student Pre-coded Group Information Sheet (GIS) for each teacher, grade, and content area Appropriate quantity of large white envelopes (each holds approximately 20 books) Color-coded content-area labels

37 Step 3 Collect Testing Materials (pp ) Use pp as a checklist to ensure all bullets have been completed All used and unused books must be returned including Examiner’s Copy Communication Arts writing drafts and Math scratch papers must be collected and securely destroyed

38 Markings in Test Booklets (p. 20) 1.Test books completed in ink must be transcribed in another test booklet with a non-mechanical #2 pencil in order to be scored. 2.Student responses written on coding tracks/margins must be erased and transcribed onto the response line or box

39 Markings in Test Booklets 3.All stray marks on the coding track must be erased. 4.All underlining of text have been erased around the answer choices (MC). 5.Test books marked with highlighters have been transcribed into other test books for scoring.

40 Step 4 Check the Organization of Materials Collected (pp ) After testing large white envelopes should contain, in order, the items indicated on page 22 Refer to the illustration in Step 8 of the Examiner’s Manual

50 Packing Unused Books Pack all unused test books in their own box (include used and unused Large Print and Braille editions with the unused test books) DO NOT INCLUDE SCORABLE TEST BOOKS IN THE SAME BOX with UNUSED TEST BOOKS!!!! Seal all boxes!
