OBJECTIVES - Classify current land use and prepare an inventory of peatland area, thickness and potential; - Evaluate the effectiveness and potential for sustainable development of different types of peat land use (agriculture, forestry, nature); - Formulate strategies for sustainable management of tropical peatlands, in conjunction with stakeholders; - Implement these strategies in conjunction with policy makers, decision takers and practitioners; - Strengthen developing country research and institutional capability.
