My Senior Project By Luca Banks

Physical Project For my Physical Project, I went to Iron Sights indoor shooting range. Here I learned about the different guns and how to fire each one.

Physical Project To fire a gun, the gun must first be loaded. Each firearm has a clip (magazine) that holds the ammunition. To begin the process, the magazine must have bullets in it. After this, the magazine is put into the handle of the gun. There is a clicking sound and this tells the shooter that the magazine is locked in. Then the shooter pulls back on the barrel of the gun until the bullet chamber is exposed. After this, the barrel is released and this “chambers the bullet into the gun. Once this is done, the shooter must line up the sights on the front and back of the gun. Once the sights are aligned, the shooter then squeezes the trigger and the gun is fired.

My Research Paper For my research paper, I chose to write about Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics. I wrote about who they were, what they did and some equipment that they use.

EMS Workers- Who They Are Paramedics are individuals that are the highest level of Emergency Medical Service personnel. They respond to emergencies and use vast amounts of knowledge to help those in need. Emergency Medical Technicians make up the rest of the EMS personnel. They do the same jobs as paramedics do, but they aren’t trained in some of the fields that paramedics are.

EMS Equipment- Ambulances Ambulances are the main mode of transportation for the EMS workers. Ambulances hold all of the special equipment that is used to help those that are in need. This vast list includes medical kits, cardiac monitors, gurneys, and oxygen delivery systems.

EMS Equipment- Medical Kits A medical kit is the piece of equipment that is used most often by EMS workers. A medical kit usually includes bandages, wound dressings, gauze, ointments, stitches, syringes, tape, and anything else that could be of use to the EMS workers.

EMS Equipment- Cardiac Monitors/ AEDs Cardiac monitors are used to measure a patients heartbeat and blood pressure. As most of the calls that EMS workers are called out for are chest pain, cardiac monitors are essential pieces of equipment that EMS workers use. AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators) are used by EMS workers to restart the heart if it has stopped beating. It does this by sending an electric shock, much like the one the heart gives, to restart the heart.

EMS Equipment- Gurneys A gurney is used to transport a patient from the scene of an accident to the ambulance and from the ambulance to the hospital.

EMS Equipment - Oxygen Delivery Systems Oxygen Delivery Systems are used in order to make it easier for patients to breathe if they are having difficulty. Oxygen can be delivered through a facial mask or through a tube at the base of the nostrils.
