Lesson Reflection MIAA 320 K- 3, 4- 7, Algebra 1 By: Dany Mao

Pre- Algebra Evaluating Algebraic Expressions with Exponents by Order of Operation

Pre- Algebra Lesson: Evaluating Algebraic Expressions with Exponents by Order of Operation. Example: 5(n ⌃ 5 + 3) – 2 for n = 2 Before lesson: What do you think you are going to learn in this lesson based on the objectives? What skills do you need in order to do well in this lesson? How do you use the Order of Operation rule to help you solve algebraic expressions with exponents?

Pre- Algebra

During lesson: What does the exponent indicate? Why is 5 used as an exponent? Contrast 3 to the fourth power with 3 times 4. Where did 16 come from? Why can’t we multiply 4 with 16 and -9 inside the parentheses? If the exponent were outside the parentheses, what would you need to do before you could apply it?

Pre Algebra Reflection Questions: Higher Level Demands and were Procedures with Connection Tasks and Doing Mathematics Tasks. Next time: If there is one thing that I could make better next time is, to incorporate more Higher Level Demands Doing Mathematic Tasks questions using Bloom Taxonomy.

Algebra 1 Lesson: Solving One-Step Equation by Using Addition

Algebra 1 Before: What did you learn yesterday about solving one-step equation? During Practice: How do you know you need to add 32? What happens if you only add 32 to one side? How can you find that the value of the unknown variable x? How do you keep the equation balanced? What are the goals when solving equations? How did you isolate the variable?

Algebra 1

Refection Questions: Higher Level Demands and were Procedures with Connection Tasks and Doing Mathematics Tasks. If I were to teach this lesson: Incorporate questions as well as incorporate more Higher Level Demands Doing Mathematic Tasks questions by using Bloom Taxonomy Level of Questions.

3rd grade Lesson: Place Value

3rd grade Before: None During: Which of these two numbers, 12 or 21, is larger? How do you know? What is the value of the 2 in the number 12? What is the value of the 2 in the number 21? After: What did you learn today? What do you understand better than you did before?

3rd grade

Reflection Questions: Higher Level Demands and were Procedures with Connection Tasks and Doing Mathematics Tasks. If I were to teach this lesson: Before the lesson I would incorporate one or two questions based on the topic to activate prior knowledge. During lesson I would use these questions as well as incorporate more Higher Level Demands Doing Mathematic Tasks questions by using Bloom Taxonomy Level of Questions.
