AIR and IPEDS   The Association for Institutional Research is a professional association of institutional researchers, planners, and decision-makers from higher education institutions around the world. AIR exists to benefit its members and to help advance research that improves the understanding, planning, and operation of higher education institutions.  AIR provides respondent training, research, and dissemination activities for IPEDS under a contract with RTI International and NCES.

Data Policy Institute  Annual two-week training on the use of national databases for postsecondary educational research.  Includes hands-on sessions led by national survey directors and policy seminars led by experts in postsecondary education policy.  Attendance is based on an application process. Accepted applicants receive an all expenses paid Fellowship to the Institute deadline: January 15, 2006.

Training Programs  Supported by AIR-affiliated professional associations  Training sessions are half- or one-day workshops on technical aspects of IPEDS changes, data collections, Peer Analysis, and COOL  Annual workshop offered at the AIR Forum

Train the Trainer Workshop  Trains forty trainers and/or IPEDS coordinators to serve as IPEDS trainers at state, regional, and national workshops.  Topics include IPEDS changes, provision or data, use of IPEDS Peer Analysis System, and the impact of data systems and technology.  The next workshop is scheduled for June

National Data Training Network  AIR Web site and electronic resources  Online IPEDS training calendar  Provides grants and other assistance for the coordination of IPEDS training sessions and other training to increase institutional research capacity
