2. What can we offer ? Work placements in the Munich region in companies municipal offices schools and Pre-schools offices TUM (University) offices in the ministry of social affairs… 4

3. How do we select and motivate employers ? We talk to them When they join us for meetings or conferences, we tell them who arranged the meeting or conference… If there is a need in another department office and we recommend a student from Finland… If there is a request from a Finnish student for a special work placement we get in contact with the potential employer and discuss the possibilities…. 5

4. What do we expect? English and basic German - it depends on the employer Mobility Flexibility Autonomy High motivation Team spirit… 6

5. Practical example (1) European office Munich ( now TUM School of Eduation i.Gr.) we mail a short description of our working place to CIMO Cimo put it on a Database… students get in contact with us via together we fix the dates for the working period in Munich we ask the students if they need any support for…accommodation… 7

Practical example (2) Student gets information about the work placement via it´s helpful to get detailed information before they arrive about what work they want to do- so that we can match it with what we can offer … when they arrive they get detailed information about the work placement company and schedule 8

munchen.htx Tiina from Helsinki Universtiy Working in the European office F1 City of Munich Practial example 9

Tiina Prepared a Leonardo staff mobility to Helsinki „OM for trainers“(one week) Collected data for guidance and counselling in Finland… Guided a group of Italien, French and English students… 10

11

6.Why do we prefer Finnish students? High level in general education languages … social competence, sense of responsibility, ability to work on teams, stability, openness, honesty, capacity… technical skills 12

7. Benefit for Students Work experience abroad Improvement of language and skills Establish networks to companies 13

Benefit for Universities Establish networks to companies and universities in the Munich region Improvement of reputation (students, companies…) Benefit for Munich employers Support by very good, qualified work force Recruitment of highly qualified manpower 14

8. What can universities do to develop international training ? Have a look at ECVET- Leonardo pilot projects develop „mobility modules“ It´s helpful for an empoyer to have an outcome-orientated short description of the working period of the student Build up networks (regional- european) for workplacements Develop or link with existing databases information tools with basic information about the receiving City/ Region/ Country; regional cultures and traditions, good and cheap accommodation, addresses of student clubs in the region…. 15

9. Impact of the financial crisis State and municipal institutions and schools NO impact Private companies It depends, but we expect they will increase the numbers of „trainees“ because they are more flexible and cheaper…. 16

10. How can we co-operate in the future? Build „bridges“ between universities and employers in the Munich region Info workshops at universities in Finland to promote mobility and participation Info workshops in the Munich region for Finnish mobility offices at the universities 17
