The research concerns some of the effects of using technology, specifically the ATM software Grid Algebra. The session will include: Reporting back on why we undertook the project and what this looked like. An introduction to the Grid Algebra software. An opportunity to reflect on your own teaching of algebra and any questions this may raise regarding your future practice.

What our project looks like An introduction to the software An opportunity to reflect on your own teaching of algebra and any questions you have Making Algebra more accessible with use of computer interactivity

Background How we used to like teaching algebra So why did we undertake the research project? – Wanting to explore the software – To force ourselves to do it - discipline – Challenge – To work with Dave and Karen What does the research look like? An introduction to the software An opportunity to reflect on your own teaching of algebra and any questions you have Making Algebra more accessible with use of computer interactivity

Dave came into school to work with departments and everyone agreed to trial it. We introduced algebra with grid algebra Taught a series of lessons Video of lessons Met up to discuss findings, analyse video, look at work Observing each other teaching with the software Dave to observe/ video/ interview students Making Algebra more accessible with use of computer interactivity
