RACHEL EMERSON Equipment/Software Project

Importance Using different equipment and software in the physical education class can be very helpful to both the student and teacher. The teacher can use many different things to test their students or to come up with fun ways for them to stay active. It can help the students by recording their progress that they have made and to help them have fun while doing it as well. Through out this power point I will show you some different tools that a physical education teacher and student can use both inside and outside of the classroom.

Stop watch A stop watch is used to measure the amount of time you are doing a certain activity and how fast you can do it. Examples:  Use a stop watch to time yourself running/sprinting so you can get faster each time.  Use a stop watch to time yourself lifting to see how many reps you can get in a certain amount of time.  Use a stop watch to time yourself for how long you can keep your balance doing something such as standing on one foot.

Why a stop watch? Using a stop watch, especially in gym class, will get the students more involved by getting more competitive with one another. They will try to start beating their best times or the best times out of the whole class. It will give them more motivation to try harder at the activity. Stop watches are also very affordable, you can get one for only ten dollars.

Nike Fuel band The Nike fuel band measures your movements for all kinds of activities. It can track the intensity of your workouts as well as counting your steps. It also displays the progress that you make and motivates you.

The Nike Fuel Band The Nike fuel band ranges from $149-$169

Elliptical Machine The elliptical is a machine to work your stamina and endurance.  Stamina- the ability to sustain prolonged physical effort.  Endurance- the ability or strength to continue to last.

The elliptical works your lower and upper body. It works the muscles in your legs such as your quads, hamstrings and gluteus. It works your upper body such as your forearms and biceps. hamstrings quads gluteus bicep forearm What muscles does it work?

Ladders Ladders are used for agility and to improve your footwork and coordination.  Agility- quick in movement

 Enhance your footwork  Improve your agility  Improve your coordination  Improves your balance  Develop brain to muscle connection Uses for ladders
