K12 WebMail http://access.k12.wv.us:1081

Login into Webmail

Type in yourname@access.k12.wv.us And your new password (setup after May 1, 2007)

From your inbox you can: read a message compose a new message (this can also be done from your Sent, Trash, Drafts or Address menus) move messages into new folders delete messages Inbox

When you click COMPOSE new email, you can type in the recipients address or select it from your address book. After completing your email you can either send it or SAVE it as a draft to edit later. TIP: You can also set the priority of a message and request a return receipt when a recipient opens your message.

Attachments… Although adding attachments is very easy downloading attachments you receive might not be…If you cannot download or save an attachment by simply clicking it, hold down the Ctrl key then click the link. Continue holding down the Ctrl key until you are prompted to save or the document opens. Attachments can now be 5mgs in size!

Like most email systems within any open message you can: reply to sender, reply to all (cc) or forward the message to another address With your new webmail system you can also: add the addresses of everyone in your incoming email to your address book with one click! TIP: Develop a good file management system with your new email by organizing your email into folders and delete unneeded emails regularly.

Organization begins in the Folder tab. Create new folders, rename existing ones and share your folder with other access users! TIP: This is also where you go to “empty your trash”. When you delete an email it goes into the trashcan. Emptying the trash actually erases the email from your mailbox.

Once you’ve created your folders, return to the Inbox and select the email you want to move. Click on the Move to Folder box and select the folder you want to move to and it’s moved! TIP: To quickly find an email use the Revise option – it’s like a search.

Your address book (list of contacts) is another area you can organize in your email system. Contacts can be added through an open email Add Addresses, but you will not see them until you UPDATE you list. Warning – Add Addresses adds all the contacts in the email. You can also add Contacts through the New Contact Feature…

Contact Feature… Once you’ve added contacts to your address book you can use the Search option to find specific contacts. You can also use the “Group” Feature to send email to a specific set of teachers, for example the English Dept, or Math Dept.!

Type in the name of the group you want to create and select the individuals you want to add to the group. Now when you Compose a new email you can select the name of the Group rather than a list of individuals.

External Mail If you have not already done so, you can transfer your mail from your old access account to your new one. Under POP server type: oldaccess.k12.wv.us The Password you use is your old password (prior to May 1, 2007) You can also access email from another POP email server (example hotmail, or yahoo).

Spam can still be a problem and must be reported to abuse@access. k12 Spam can still be a problem and must be reported to abuse@access.k12.wv.us but simply forwarding the offending email is not enough. The report must be sent from the original email so that the “header information” can be seen. To do that… Open the message, click the small triangle to “View message header detail”.

When the message is displayed with the full header information, Press CTRL A (select all) then CTRL C (copy) Then compose a new message to abuse@access.k12.wv.us and paste the header and message body into the new message and send.
