7 Reasons why HISTORY is essential to learn Why We Study History

1. History helps us understand people and societies When we look at historical information or experiences in the past, it offers us a picture of how societies function.

2. History helps us understand change The past causes the present, and so the future. To know why something happens we have to look at what earlier factors shaped it.

3. History is important in our own lives Not only are stories entertaining, but we also learn through study. It can shape our characters through lessons learned.

4. History provides us with an identity Looking at the past can tell us from where we come. Family identity can be established. History can also tell us about our national story, increasing values.

5. History promotes good citizenship We must study the past to lay a foundation of how we will act in public. History encourages good behavior in public.

6. History helps us develop skills History teaches: The ability to access evidence How to read interpretations Analyzing change

7. History comes useful to us in the working world. History creates good business people, professionals, and leaders. It gives people a broad perspective of the world. It also develops research skills, reading, writing, and speaking skills.
