The life change, change the house Program for Prevention of household accidents during the first four years of life Centro nazionale per la prevenzione AZIENDA SANITARIA LOCALE TO1 e il Controllo delle Malattie ID n° 12033

INTRODUCTION This training is an integral part of the project on "Prevention active" sponsored by the CCM and the Regions for the prevention of domestic accidents which are the first cause of death for children between 0 and 4 years

GOALS  Decrease household accidents, with recourse to the emergency room, in the first four years of life  Encourage the development of a prevention of accidents culture in the home  Educate the staff of the Maternal Childhood Department, of the Service of Vaccination and of the Hospital  Inform at least 70% of parents of infants on how to organise a safe house

METHODS  Training cascade addressed to medical doctors, midwives, health assistants, nurses and pediatric nurses  Awareness of parents in moments of contact with the Health Service:  During courses of preparation of the birth  In the hospital when the child born  In the first budget of health  In home visit after birth

RESULTS  It is implementing the training of operators in 8 regions, the project may be extended to all regions that require it  For parents was produced and made available information material

CONCLUSIONS Children are constantly evolving: game, exploration, emulation are important for their growth, it is necessary that adults make these activities safer especially at home that is often erroneously considered to be devoid of risks. This training wants to contribute to the awareness of operators and parents.
