Water Testing By Pearl, Marlee, and Riahna McKenny Elementary March 21,2012

What is water testing? Water testing is about the 7 tests we do Dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, fecal coliform, turbidity, and nitrates Test D.O. to see if oxygen in water Test temperature to see how hot or cold water is

D.O. results D.O. result much better in October than February Optimal Standard = >9 mg/l

Temperature Better October than February Optimal levels for hatching salmon = <48 degrees F Or 9 degrees C

B.O.D. results Both results bad Optimal standards = >6mg/l

Fecal Coliform February’s results = much better Optimal standards = <50 colonies/100ml

pH Both good for February and October Optimal standards = 7-8

Turbidity October’s result = much better than February’s Optimal standards = <20 JTU’s

Nitrates (as nitrogen) October’s result = much better than February’s Optimal standers = <1 mg/l

Total solids October’s result = much better than February’s result Optimal standards = <25 mg/l
