 Bones and Joints  Ligaments and Tendons  Muscles  Nerves  Bursae

 Femur(thigh bone) and pelvis  Femoral Head- a ball shape at the top end of the femur that fits into the Acetabulum- a round socket side of the pelvis. It is also attached to the rest of the femur.

 Ligaments are soft tissue structures that connect bones to bones. They help stabilize the hip joint.  Labrum-a ring of fibrous cartilage around the edge of the articular (joint) surface of a bone.

 Glutes- These muscles extend the hip and form the buttocks.  Hip Flexors-These muscles flex the hip and are located on the front side of the hip.

 All of the nerves that travel down the thigh pass by the hip.  Main Nerves:  femoral nerve  sciatic nerve  obturator nerve  Motor- relay signals from the brain to the muscles to move the hip.  Sensory- signals that relay sensations such as touch, pain, and temperature.

 Bursa- thin fluid- filled sac of tissue that reduces friction.  Located between muscles, tendons, and bones.
