 The gold folder comes home every night. On Mondays, the folder will contain all of the work from the previous week as well as the new spelling words. Please check the folder nightly.

 Each child has up to 10 spelling words weekly. The first five are the same for the whole class and the subsequent words are based on their ability level. The weekly words go home in the gold folder on Mondays. The tests are on Fridays.  Math facts are a big part of the second grade curriculum so please use addition and subtraction flashcards with your child.

 The $25.00 one-time supply fee goes toward materials such as: new apps for the iPads, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue, pencils, erasers, Weekly Reader, etc.  Please also send in a box of tissues.

I do allow the kids to bring in a small snack for a morning snack. Please make sure it is something healthy that can be eaten in about 5 minutes. (No candy please.) The children can also bring in a water bottle to use throughout the day. Please make sure it is only filled with water because it is much easier to clean up spills if it is only water.

I plan to acknowledge each child’s birthday. Feel free to send in a birthday treat. If your child’s birthday is in the summer, we will celebrate at the end of the school year, just let me know what day you choose. Many children will have parties and want to invite classroom friends. Because we are concerned with the feelings of all the children, we do not permit children to distribute party invitations at school unless you are inviting the entire class.
