Questions: 1 How much business equipment have you seen? List them. 2 What business equipment have you used before? Can you describe its instructions for use?

Vocabulary

Grammar - ImperativesImperatives Positive forms use the infinitive e.g. Press ‘delete’ to remove the file. Negative forms use Don’t or Never. e.g. Don’t /Never leave the photocopier on overnight. Imperatives are used in the following ways. ·To give orders or instructions e.g. Call the engineer if it doesn’t work. ·To make informal requests (often made more polite with will you?) e.g. Pass me that pen, will you?

Some and any some and any are used in the following ways. Some refers to an unspecified quantity. e.g. We’ve got some new computers. e.g. I don’t like some of their products. Any refers to a complete lack of something. e.g. There isn’t any coffee left. Any is used to form questions.( Some is also used in polite requests.) e.g. Do you have any photocopier paper? e.g. Would you like some coffee? Note! Negatives with there is /are can be formed two ways. e.g. There isn’t any paper left. There aren’t any disks left. e.g. There’s no paper left. There are no disks left.

Countable and uncountable nouns Countable and uncountable nouns have the following forms. Countable : a computer, two computers Uncountable : equipment, a set of equipment Uncountable nouns take a singular verb. Countable and uncountable nouns are used in the following ways. There is a printer. There is some equipment. There are some disks. There are a lot of books. There is a lot of paper. There aren’t many staples. There isn’t much toner. We only have a few computers. There is a little stationery left.

Is there anything else I should know? B Yes, there are a few things to be careful about—like never put your fingers in the shredder. A That’s a bit obvious,isn’t?
