Follow-up for Super Test Day- 11 th & 12 th Grade Platte County High School ACT Results

Goals of today’s presentation  Introduce College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards and what they mean to you  Introduce College and Career Readiness (CCR) benchmarks for ACT  Begin comparing your ACT results with the CCR benchmarks  Examine next steps and conversations you can have with your parents

How do we define College and Career Readiness? The acquisition of the knowledge and skills a student needs to enroll in and succeed in credit-bearing first-year courses at a postsecondary institution (such as a two- or four-year college, trade school, or technical school) without the need for remediation.

What do my ACT benchmark scores mean to me? WHY THESE COURSES? WHAT DO WE MEAN BY “A HIGH PROBABILITY OF SUCCESS?”  English Composition, College Algebra, and Biology are the first credit-bearing courses most commonly taken by first-year college students. Course placement data also show that reading achievement is most closely aligned with success in credit-bearing courses in college.  Students who meet a Benchmark on the ACT or ACT Compass have approximately a 50% chance of earning a B or better and approximately a 75 percent chance of earning a C or better in the corresponding college course or courses.

What are the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks? College Course or Course Area Test Explore Score (Range 1-25) Plan Score (Range 1-32) ACT Score (Range 1-36) ACT Compass Score English Composition English Social Sciences Reading College Algebra Math BiologyScience182023n/a
