SmartClassrooms A SmartClassroom is a general assignment classroom (GAC) containing technology to enhance and assist in instruction.

Computer/Video Projector VHS video cassette/DVD player* PC with net connection, DVD-ROM, and USB ports VGA/mini cables for laptops Speakers Overhead Projector* 2 Screens (where possible) Help Phone AMX Touchpanel Controller Standard Equipment SmartClassrooms

Equipment Access Room lights, the overhead projector, and the classroom PC are always usable CTS regulates access to the data projector and the AMX control panel For classes and all class-related events (reviews, film screenings, etc.), all equipment is enabled SmartClassrooms

Standard Equipment Operation SmartClassrooms The touchpanel contains a motion sensor and should “wake up” when you get near. If not, simply tap the blank screen.

SmartClassrooms Touch the screen to turn on the computer projector. This will allow you to direct video and audio signals. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms Outside of regular class hours (or paid event hours) the touchpanel will be disabled. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms For all classes, and for events requesting use, the panel will be enabled. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms Now, simply select a source to display... Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms... and adjust room lights and volume. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms The buttons control different banks of lights in the room. Tap once to turn OFF, tap again to turn ON. Lights Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms Volume controls are universal. They control the volume for whatever device is being projected. Volume Up Mute Volume Down Volume Indicator Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms When you select VCR you’ll see this screen. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms This panel controls the VCR just like a remote control. Buttons on the front of the deck can also be used. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms To turn off video projection temporarily, use ‘Video Mute’. (‘Video Mute’ does not mute the audio or stop the tape) Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms When you select DVD you’ll see this screen. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms These panels now allow you to control the DVD player. This is the ‘Transport Control’ screen. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms This is the ‘Menu Control’ screen. Standard Equipment Operation

SmartClassrooms VCR/DVD Controls If an external device is needed, it can be connected via the front A/V inputs. The VCR must then be switched to ‘LINE 2’ by pressing the tracking up/down buttons on the front of the player. This device can now be controlled by using the VCR button on the AMX panel. Users must log into SmartClassroom computers using their UCInetID and password. If additional equipment is needed in a room, it can be requested from CTS or brought in from another department. To request from CTS, talk to your department business office and have them fill out an Equipment Rental Request Form.
