Topic: Era of Jackson Date: 4/16/10 Lesson Objectives: – Students will evaluate Jackson’s presidency by completing a leveled activity Unit Questions: – Level Two: To what extent is Andrew Jackson a great president and to what extent is he a tyrant?

Love them or hate them?? Quick Write (2-3 sentences): – (1) What makes a person controversial? – (2) How are controversial people portrayed by the media?

Andrew Jackson – p. 92 and 93 Structure: Rally coach structure – Take turns identifying and explaining different sections of the political cartoons Time Limit: 3 minutes Objective: – Apply prior learned information to identify reasons for opposition and support to Jackson during his presidency
