World aikido Aikikai India

What is AIKIDO? Aikido is a Japanese Budo (Way of the Warrior) developed from the ancient Samurai arts Developed by Morihei Ueshiba (often referred to as O Sensei or Great Teacher) Aikido – “the path of harmonizing energy” involves comprehensive use of effective : joint locks, strikes, throws, standing grappling techniques, nerve strikes, and manipulations derived from koryu ("old style" or "ancient") forms of Jujutsu, and throws and other techniques derived from kenjutsu (sword arts) and jojutsu (walking stick arts).  Needs very little force or strength, uses the energy of their attacks to throw or gain control of them, emphasis on circular movement around a stable, dynamic center. Improves equanimity, confidence, reflexes, alertness of both mind and body Enriches and empowers individuals in their daily life, where a person could ultimately achieve success through a development of power, calmness, and confidence. Aikido came from this spiritual desire to promote peace in society, through the development of harmony in thought, word and action. Promotes self-defense technique, physical health, peace of mind, or spiritual enlightenment As a path of self-development, Aikido leads towards the integration of mind, body, and spirit - towards making us complete human beings

AIKIDO – A Holistic Approach An effective self defense strategy Aikido techniques are done against a variety of attacks - kicks, punches, strikes, chops, grabs by one or both hands to wrists, elbows, shoulders (from front or back), combination attacks, some knife or gun attacks, and attacks by more than one person. Because it trains not only the body, but the mind and spirit as well, it is a holistic approach to defense and self-protection. Aikido training develops one's energy and expression of energy and enables the practitioner to maintain a calm state of mind under adverse conditions. On one level, with increased awareness and self-confidence and better posture and movement, you will be able to avoid potential situations. On another level, if someone does attack you, your training will enable you to react in a way the attacker may not expect, which may diffuse the attack by itself.

AIKIDO Techniques Focuses on leading an opponent’s energy and mind to gain control of their balance and body, or to throw them away from you. Aikido places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement. Movements are natural and not forced Requires very little strength or athletic ability Techniques are based on a series of pins and throws designed to de-escalate a violent encounter

Benefits from AIKIDO Physical fitness, flexibility and aerobic conditioning Increased balance, co-ordination, faster reaction and sense of timing Relaxed and Peaceful mind Alert and confident presence Better ability to deal with conflicts Deal with stressful situations in a calm manner Constant challenge of self development & learning new skills Discipline and etiquettes Good friends
