2013 Pertussis in the Community CDC reports that nationwide pertussis is at a 50 year high Number of cases in Washington is back to 2011 levels 49 cases reported in Spokane County so far; we averaged 13.5 cases Immunization is the key to curbing this disease Infants under 1 year of age are the group with the most cases New recommendation for pregnant women is to get vaccinated with every pregnancy 61 percent of adults don’t know when they last received vaccine against pertussis* 20 percent of adults reported receiving vaccination in the last 10 years* *Univ Michigan June 2013
