What is happening? New WebLearn service launched 30 June – URL is weblearn.ox.ac.uk Dual service: old & new systems in parallel Old system becomes read-only Sept 2011 Old system to be withdrawn June 2012 You (yes you) must migrate your material – but we will help! weblearn.ox.ac.uk

About new system Based on Sakai (open source), also used at – Yale (will make the new VC feel at home!) – Cambridge, Hull, Lancaster, Newcastle – UCBerkley, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, NYU Better, cleaner more modern interface Covers virtually all functions of old system Same (unique) concepts as old system – eg, hierarchy, groups, public access Uses Oxford SSO (webauth) weblearn.ox.ac.uk

Getting Started Depts/colleges need Local WebLearn Coordinator – must complete sign-up form – coordinator can then manage presence Regular ITLP training courses (see OUCS website) – targeted training for academics (during long vac too!) – drop in session ‘Computer8’ (Friday AM during term) Special sessions for ITSS (incl. ICTF Conf.) weblearn.ox.ac.uk
