Warm-Up Warm-Up I will be coming around checking your homework while you are working on your warm-up 1)2(-4 + k) = 24 2)37 = 4x – 6x ) ½(14x – 22) = -53 4) 18 = 14x - 3(4x + 2)

If you do something to one side of an equation… You must do the SAME THING to the other side of the equation!!!

5x = 4x + 7 Box out answer. Get all terms with variables on one side of the equation -4x 1x = 7

6x = 4x + 8 Get variable by itself. Box out answer. Get all terms with variables on one side of the equation -4x 2x = 8 22

4x + 19 = 2x + 25 Get variable by itself. Box out answer. Get all terms with variables on one side of the equation and all numbers on the other side. -2x 2x + 19 = x = 6 22

3x + 5x – 8 = 2(3x + 7) Box out answer. -6x +8 2x = x – 8= 6x+ 14 2x – 8 = 14 Simplify each side of the equation (distribute and/or combine like terms) Get variable by itself. Get all terms with variables on one side of the equation and all numbers on the other side.

-6(x + 5) + 10x = 10x + 18

3 – 4(3m + 1) = 6m + 53
