Chemical Oxygen Generators: Limitations: Current chemical oxygen generation systems are relatively heavy and have very limited capacity because of potential runaway chemical reaction. These systems can be hazardous to handle due to extreme heat. They are bulky because of the number of internal canisters. They require replenishment canisters which need to be stockpiled. The unit needs to cool down before reuse. They are fragile and not designed for remote field operation. Limited self life for canisters
