Battling Bullying By: Antonio & Chris

What to know  Kids in every school know who a bully is.  A bully is someone who either uses force- physical or verbal violence to repeatedly hurt someone.  Most experts say that nearly 160,000 kids miss school each year because of they are being bullied.

Who are bullies  Bullies are people who use either the web, words, or their fists to repeatedly hurt others.

Why do they bully  Kids bully because they like to get a reaction.  They may be bullied at home or also at school.  They are giving in to peer pressure.  They think that bullying others is funny and maybe even cool.

How do you handle bullies?  One way you can handle a bully is to ignore them when they say mean comments about you.  Another way is to tell the teacher if you can walk away.  You can also try and tell the bully how him/her bullying makes you feel.

How can you help friends who are being bullied?  You can step up to the bully and tell him how your friend feel about being pick on.  You can also tell an adult that one of your friends is being picked on so that the bully can walk away and he is probably going to stop bullying.  You can also remind your friend that what the bully is saying is not true.
