Welcome to the section dedicated to electronic resources. Online Databases Online Articles

Choose One of these paths Online Articles in Journals Online Articles

Online Articles are... The articles that can be found on various sites on the internet. The most reliable sites are those of newspapers and magazines. Many articles are posted after they have appeared in the print versions of these publications. Many of the print news media also have online articles and columns that only appear online.

Examples of what articles will look like in a listing from an article search engine (JSTOR)

Online Journals Online journals are more than individual articles The journals are refereed by academics in the field Online journals are academic in nature, more school oriented Most of the online journals also have printed versions Online journal articles may be published in both formats Often have more specific researched articles and themes

An example of different E-Journals

Welcome to your number one source of articles in today’s schools. Ebsco

Databases Databases are a way of collecting articles and abstracts for consumption of researchers. Databases are searchable and allow the user to refine/define their search A good database contains only quality information and articles A database is an electronic collection of information that takes up minimal space. Databases often contain articles from journals and individual articles or book abstracts

This is what the first page of Ebso looks like.

An initial search will look like this.

Notice the places for a Boolean Search.

Notice that the use of “not” and “film” have taken off an article from our results.

This is a small example of how an Ebsco search is done. Through the use of Boolean perameters and different terms we can find numberous other groupings of articles in this database. Take the time to experiment with EBSCO now and find what happens.
