Principles of Language Acquisition Language acquisition is a developmental process. It requires a lot of comprehensible input. It requires repetition. It requires changes to negotiate meaning, the more meaningful the exposure the more you learn. It requires participation in discourse (both verbal and written) Knowledge of the topic helps one to interpret what they hear and read.
