Start off by….. Finding out who your target market will be? Your TARGET MARKET will change depending on the type of music you choose !

SO….. WHAT is a TARGET MARKET?

Target Market: A specific group of consumers at which a company aims its products and services. Your target customers are those who are most likely to buy from you.

When FINDING your Target Market… Resist the temptation to be too general in the hopes of getting a larger slice of the market. Here are some questions to get you started:

Are your target customers male or female? How old are they? Where do they live? Is geography a limiting factor for any reason? What do they do for a living? How much money do they make? This is most significant if you're selling relatively expensive or luxury items.money What other aspects of their lives matter? Lifestyle, religion, stages in each individuals life?

Target markets are groups of people separated by distinguishable and noticeable aspects. Target markets can be separated into:

geographic segmentations (their location)geographic demographic/socio-economic segmentation (gender, age, income occupation, education, sexual orientation, household size, and stage in the family life cycle)demographicsocio-economic segmentation psychographic segmentation (similar attitudes, values, and lifestyles)psychographic behavioral segmentation (occasions, degree of loyalty)behavioral product-related segmentation (relationship to a product)

NOW THAT YOU HAVE A TARGET MARKET….. LETS GET TO WORK!

FIRST things FIRST! STEP ONE: Brainstorm on what you want your cover to look like? What magazine are you going to be in? What does the composition look like? What is the story about and how does it relate to the cover imagery? How do the type, pictures and visuals all work together? Is there a color scheme?

Use your Handout!

Start off by taking a picture…of YOU! Then manipulate it in Adobe Photoshop with another picture that goes with your cover and cover story! Add your text and all the other elements that make the magazine more believable….elements like the BAR code, Issue date, sponsor logos

Use a MAGAZINE as a template

Take a picture that goes with your theme?

Add a picture of you to the photo…

ADD the magazine title Cover story title ADDED information Additional stories Bar code

Here is a COVER Example…

The cover story…. Should be a two –Page spread! The story should be about you and a FICTIONAL scenario… have fun with it, but keep it clean! In the story you should have a Minimum of three pictures in the cover story. Two of the pictures should be manipulated with you in them! Don’t forget to add the visuals like…clip art, logos, sponsors etc.

Cover Story Example

Closure Accommodations: We need to advertise a PRODUCT! It’s a FULL –page Advertisement of your choice. Think of your target market since it going to located in the Magazine you chose for your cover story!
