Mark Scheme b. This is a measure of the impact [1] of activities on the environment [1] in terms of the greenhouse gasses produced through the outlet of carbon dioxide [1] a.Distribution [1] Disposal [1]

Environmental effects of global warming… Effect of global warming on weather patterns Effect of global warming on sea levels Effect of global warming on ecology systems 1 mark for each point relating to any of these

6Rs d i. Reuse [1] Repair [1] Reduce [1] ii. Refuse to use materials, energy source, materials processing which are not environmentally friendly. Or refuse to design a product which will not be environmentally friendly in use or when disposed of after use 1 mark for each point made (max 2) Rethink the product to use less materials, reduce energy consumption, reduce transport requirements (eg flat pack or stack ability) reduces impact on environment in use 1 mark for each point made (max 2)

Scrap heap challenge: Now is your chance to leave a lasting legacy on the school! There is a competition for the glass display cabinet at the front of school. Linking in with your 6Rs, can you design a sculpture that could bring sustainability into the spotlight for Kingsford? Come up with some simple initial designs for such a sculpture. A good design will consider: How the sculpture represents sustainability What materials are used and how they link to the 6Rs How the sculpture will be made Creative and original responses [I suggest working in teams to gather enough raw materials]
