The narrator - is one of the characters, - uses the personal pronoun “I”, - tells the story.
Omniscient = All knowing The narrator knows everything about the characters and their problems. The narrator can tell us * past, present, and future of all characters, * what the characters are thinking and feeling, * what is happening in several places at the same time.
The narrator does not take part in the story’s action. S/He stands above the action. The narrator is OUTSIDE of the story LOOKING IN.
The narrator focuses on thoughts and feelings of only one character.
We observe the action through the eyes of only one of the characters in the story.
The narrator is an outsider who can only report what he/she sees or hears. This narrator is simply reporting the facts.
