Dr Habibah Hj Jamil Coordinator Double Degree Master Programme UKM-ITB (Petroleum Geoscience)

 With the increase in the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, countries especially oil producers have great needs to increase their workforce in the hydrocarbon industry.  This program aims to provide a supply of competent graduates for the petroleum and gas industry.

 The programme provides a platform for students to enrich themselves with the formal knowledge of Geoscience Petroleum and Petroleum Geophysic, which complements each other.  Being a Double Degree programme conducted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Institut Teknologi Bandung, students undertaking this programme will be granted a unique advantage of mastering the subject matter from two different perspectives, Malaysia and Indonesian.

MASTER OF SCIENCE (PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCE) AND MASTER OF GEOPHYSICS

 Degree from UKM = 31 credits + 6 (language)  Degree from ITB = 36 credits

 Geologists  Geophysicist  Oil and gas analyst  Petroleum Exploration  Project Managers  Consultants to Oil and Gas (O & G) Companies and Organizations providing services to the O & G companies.

 Fresh geoscience graduates aspiring to gain a broad and applied technical background that prepares them for a profesional career as petroleum geoscientist.  Professionals in the industry wishing to enhance their technical skills and formal qualifications and ultimately improve their career standing.

 A full time programme in which completed within 2 years.  1 st Year in UKM, 2 nd Year in ITB.  The first batch was enrolled in  The 12 students will be graduated in 38 th UKM Convocation Ceremony on 2010.

 Full time Tri-Semester Programme.  Completed within 1 ½ years.  Lectures at weekend (Friday evening – Saturday).  Lectures in Kuala Lumpur and Bangi, Malaysia  Fieldwork in Bandung, Indonesia.

 The title will be given by supervisors on the early semester.  Student can start the thesis straight away.  Thesis should be submitted at the end of the study.

 Holders of Bachelor of Science degree from Malaysian universities or strata-1 (S1) degree from Indonesian universities, with a good CGPA in geology, geophysics or any other equivalent subjects.  Graduates from recognized universities in various relevant disciplines and who have experience in oil and gas industries, and approved by UKM Senate and ITB Graduate School.  TOEFL score above 500 for students who enroll in UKM and 475 in ITB.
