The States Legal same-sex marriage: 11 states Joint adoption: 21 states Discrimination not tolerated (work): 17 states Discrimination not tolerated (housing): 17 states Hate crime not tolerated: 14 states Discrimination not tolerated (school): 19 states *All others have no law, law is unclear, or act is banned or illegal.

Workplace Discrimination Currently there are no laws or bans on employers to keep them from firing an employee based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

Discrimination in Schools Many schools do not protect children who are discriminated based on sexual or gender identity. Many of these kids are out casted by other kids and also by some (if not all) teachers and administration.

Housing Discrimination Renter and sellers of homes in 17 states are able to decide if they want to allow same-sex couples to rent or buy the property.
