WARM UP: CAHSEE Review List and explain the strategies we should use on the CAHSEE Essay.

WARM UP: CAHSEE Review List the four different TYPES of writing prompts you may see on the CAHSEE. Explain the characteristics of each type of prompt.

Today’s Learning Goal I will review the CAHSEE writing strategies I have learned by completing strategy drills on various CAHSEE Essay prompts in order to boost my essay score.

CAHSEE Essay Strategies Do/What Chart H.I.T Introductions: –Hook –Information –Thesis Essay Outline and Format

Essay Format Handwriting must be neat and LEGIBLE! 3-5 paragraphs minimum! INDENT EACH PARAGRAPH! Spelling and Grammar as accurate as possible!

Drill Instructions For each Essay Prompt complete the following on a separate sheet of paper: –Identify the TYPE of essay prompt “Writing Prompt #___ : ______________.” –Do/What Chart –HIT Introduction –Basic Outline (You will have 8 minutes and 11 seconds per prompt) DUE AT THE END OF CLASS!
