Presentation transcript:

 Restaurants have been around in some form for most of human civilization. › Although McDonald's was the first restaurant to use the assembly-line system, some people think of White Castle as the first fast-food chain. › White Castle was founded in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas. › The McDonald brothers opened their redesigned restaurant in 1948, and several fast-food chains that exist today opened soon after. › Burger King and Taco Bell got their start in the 1950s, and Wendy's opened in 1969.

 Our bodies were not created to withstand the continual fueling of junk. › Obesity  half of America's adults and one-quarter of its children are obese, double the rate of a generation ago › Heart Disease › Diabetes › High Cholestrol

 To further educate others on the risks of continuous fast food intake and their dangers.

 The risks of fast food do not only affect one specific group of individuals. › Children › Teens › Adults › Elderly

 Steps are being made to improve the quality of nutrition in fast foods. › Reduction of trans fats › Lower sugar › Less “empty calorie” meal options  Salads  Wraps  Grilled options › Healthier childrens menu

 In the year of 2007, $165.3 billion was spent on fast food. › Every day, about one-quarter of American adults eat at fast-food restaurants

 By informing the public of the risk of fast food they can draw his/her own conclusion on how to moderate their eating habits.
