Big Dog By Zack Tippie and Matt Sparks

Big dog is used as a pack mule to accompany soldiers. Big dog simulates a human carrying heavy bags. What task does the robot perform? What human function does this robot perform?

Where is the robot used? What is its work envelope Big dog is used in NASA and the military. The big dog has four legs and each leg has three joints that can be repositioned 500 times.

Is the robotic end effector multi-functional? If so, what other tasks can it perform? Yes this robot is multi-functional It is a rough terrain robot that can climb a hill at 4mph and can climb a slope of 3.5 degrees.

How is the robot taught to perform its task? This robot can be taught to perform its task by being programed or can listen to human voices.

What sensors does this robot have and how does the robot use these sensors? Big dog has a stereo vision and a control system. This helps the robot with joint position and joint force.

Name some advantages and disadvantages of using a robot to complete this task? You don’t have to carry heavy equipment. The disadvantage is that it costs a lot of money.

Describe the impact that this robot has had or could have on its intended audience? It has been built to carry supplies and march alongside troops.
