SPORTS INJURY RISK MANAGEMENT Week 11

What do you need to know… What is risk management? Understanding of what could go wrong in training and recovery Understanding of different risk management strategies that can be put in place to reduce the risk of sports injury

Risk Management The process of measuring or assessing risk and then developing strategies to manage the risk Questions to consider What could possibly go wrong? How could it happen? What action could we take to prevent it happening?

What could go wrong in training and recovery? Brainstorm

What could go wrong in training and recovery? Inadequate pre-participation screening Coaches’ conduct and coaching practices Program design Activities and equipment Inability to get medical assistance Return to training following an injury Not providing sufficient recovery Environmental conditions
