1.Lesson Preparation: Planning a lesson that meets the critical criteria of effective instruction for English language learners (ELLs) 2.Building Background: Linking background knowledge and previously learned information to new learning and explicitly teaching the vocabulary to access the new learning 3.Comprehensible Input: Making the lesson and learning understandable through a variety of means 4.Strategies: Teaching students a variety of learning strategies that facilitate the learning process THE 8 SIOP COMPONENTS
