The Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 By: Aryan Chavan

The main cause of The San Francisco Earthquake was a tremor that was between a on the Richter Scale. It also caused a huge fire which lasted for four days. On April 20, the U.S.S. saved only 2,000 injured people or victims of the earthquake.

This is a map showing the 1906 rupture of the San Andreas fault. It shows the Paleoseismic Research Sites that measure earthquakes. Back then people found a way to warn people if an earthquake was coming. They could tell from the northern part of California that an earthquake was coming.

People estimated 68% that an earthquake was coming, but more realistically, it was about 150%. The great earthquake broke loose some 20 to 25 seconds later, with an epicenter near San Francisco. It was very violent with strong shaking, which lasted about 45 to 60 seconds.

Many people got separated by cracks and holes in the ground.

We are so lucky to have all of this technology and we are also lucky to live in 2014.
