Programs and Demographics Kevin Bullard

Why use a program? Allows you to group students together and track their progress over time Teachers have access to students they are not rostered with. Use a program to track interventions or site/district programs, e.g. After-school programs, special ed, math groups, grade level groups, etc. You can create exam answer documents (bubble sheets) specifically for students who participates in a particular program.

Why use a demographic? Used to filter student results in a pre-built report (e.g. run the MEAP Report only for my Native American students) helps establish a report or program (create a program/report on students based on a particular demographic (GATE, English Learners, etc.) Can be created/imported for anything you track in your student information system (SIS) or other criteria not tracked in your SIS

Why use either? So…. whether you use a program or a demographic depends on what the purpose is on how you would like to monitor your students progress. A big difference is that programs will allow users access to students that they do not have access to otherwise. In terms of tracking over time, this can be done with a demographic and a program. Programs will flag a child, a demographic allows you to report on data collected for a student. EXAMPLE, if you create a Math program, you can link multiple assessments and exams to that program to evaluate student progress. You can also create a custom report starting with students who participate in a program or share a common demographic and then pull in multiple assessment or demographic data over time.

Thank You! Any Questions?
