Presentation transcript:

Please get out a piece of paper, put your heading at the top, and then wait quietly for instructions. Get 1 of each colored pencil: BlueYellowRedGreen. Blue, Yellow, Red, Green. Instructions will follow later.

Think about the 10 most valuable things in your life Rank them most important 10least important (1 being most important, and something you would not give up for anything else on that list, 10 being least important, and that you would give up for all items above it) Consider people, items, keepsakes, animals, etc. Also: use “family” instead of certain members in it, and “friends” to include any and all friends. No individuals! Group them this way.

 Blue  Blue = gifts or material items  Red  Red = people / animals  Green  Green = keepsakes from the past  Yellow  Yellow = necessities for life (food, bed, etc.)  USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT. Obviously, some areas could easily be considered in both categories, so use your own personal reasoning for categorizing your items.

Ir on y Ki ng s !

Think about the priority values of Madame Loisel from The Necklace and how they compare to the priority values of the two characters in The Gift of the Magi. Similarities? Differences?

 Using your narrative from the beginning of class, underline and label: ◦ one simple, ◦ one compound, ◦ and one complex sentence.
