London Trip 2014

Day 1 First we went to Buckingham Palace which is near St. James’ Park. During our time there we saw guards marching around the palace. After, we went to the park and had a picnic.

The history of St.James’s park St.James park :modern St.James park: ancient

About St. James’s Park St. James’s Park was once a hospital for women. It was dedicated to James the Less, which was why the park is called St.James Park. Henry VIII built St.James Palace, which is on the site of the hospital.

Downing Street While we were at Downing Street we spoke to the police officers that were protecting Downing Street and the Prime Minister. During our conversation I asked if the Prime Minister was at Downing Street but I was told, “No, he is in Scotland.”

Day 2 We arrived at the Monument building. There were 311 steps to the top. Once at the top we saw a spectacular view of everything in London it was like standing on top of the world.

Where is St Paul’s? St Paul’s Cathedral is one of the largest, most resplendent churches in the world. It lies in the city of London, near the Millennium Bridge. Standing tall on Ludgate Hill, it is on the city’s highest point and is one of the most well known constructions in London.

Destruction of St Paul’s Unfortunately St Paul’s didn’t stay tall and towering for long. During the blitz and world war II, St Paul’s Cathedral was hit by German bombs, though one bomb was removed from the church before it exploded. If this hadn’t happened, St Paul’s would have been destroyed completely. But destruction did not end there. In 1666, St Paul’s was attacked by the Great Fire of London.

Buskers We saw some brilliant performers such as Charlotte Campbell, a Swiss Hang performer and many guitarists.

Bubbles We saw various bubble makers at the South Bank.

BMX Boys Arriving at Trafalgar Square we saw the colossal, blue statue of a chicken. We also saw Nelson’s Column. After that we saw these two people on their bikes they did some mind-blowing tricks.
