Competency Evaluation: Beginning Level Speed and Accuracy –Minimum 25 wam with 6 errors or fewer in Timed Test for a C grade –Completion of Skill-building Lessons 1-25 in Keyboarding Pro –15 hours of work in the Typing Lab (required for OST1100 only)

Competency Evaluation: Intermediate Level Speed and Accuracy –Minimum 35 wam with 10 errors or fewer in Timed Test for a C grade –Completion of Word Processing exercises through Lesson 40; extra credit for later lessons –15 hours of work in the Typing Lab (required for OST1110 only)

Competency Evaluation: Advanced Level Speed and Accuracy –Minimum 45 wam with 10 errors or fewer in Timed Test for a C grade –Completion of Advanced Word Processing exercises in syllabus –Extra credit for work done above assigned exercises

What are the Home Keys? The 8 Home Keys are the anchors upon which modern touch-typing is based A S D F G H J K L ; The Space bar must always be pushed by either of the thumbs. The Enter key must always be pushed by the right pinky. The Shift keys must always be pushed by either one of the pinkies depending on the location of the letter to be capitalized.
