DiDA – Spreadsheet practice Lesson 5 - Objectives How to use data to create a publication Understand the purpose of the publication Using graphs to support findings

DiDA – Spreadsheet practice Your task Create a newsletter to – Give advice on how to keep safe online – How to avoid viruses – Some new websites which they may be interested in. It must be – Aimed at teenagers – One side of A4 – Must include the results of your analysis

DiDA – Spreadsheet practice What are the biggest risks? To keep someone safe you need to know exactly what risks they face. Your analysis should show some of the areas where they could potentially be at risk. You must base your advice on what you have found out.

DiDA – Spreadsheet practice Using your graphs When describing the risks you need to be able to justify why this is important to students. You should include graphs to support your argument. For example, if you have found that most students download music illegally then the biggest risk they face is from viruses and being fined. – You can then include your graph to show that most students download illegally.

DiDA – Spreadsheet practice More research You should do extra research based on what you have found out. For example finding out how many people have been fined for downloading music. This information MUST NOT be copied.

DiDA – Spreadsheet practice More text, less images Newsletters DO NOT have lots of images. They are mostly text. This means you must consider carefully what you add. The max font size is 12.

DiDA – Spreadsheet practice Final tips Use publisher! Research example newsletters to get an idea of layout. Make sure you have at least one graph! Make sure your work makes sense. Proof read it!
