Declarative A declarative sentence makes a statement and is punctuated by a period. Example: The puppy looks tired.
Imperative An imperative sentence is a command or polite request and it ends in a period or exclamation mark. The subject is “you” and not written; it is implied. Example: Please walk the dog. (You) Please walk the dog.
Exclamatory An exclamatory sentence expresses great emotion or excitement and ends in an exclamation mark. Example: The house is on fire!
Interrogative An interrogative sentence asks a question and ends with a question mark. Example: Is it raining outside?
