Mrs. Kamerer

 Have loved math since I was in Kindergarten and was a math major in college.  I like technology. Got a grant for HP Prime.  Taught at Weber from 9/1998 – 6/2011.  Received NYS Master Teacher Designation for wanting to continue to evolve as an educator.  Married to high school sweetheart, have two sons, grade 8 and grade 6, and four dogs.  Teaching isn’t just my job; it’s my hobby too!

 To see what score you would need on the AP exam to earn college credit: placement/search-credit-policies placement/search-credit-policies  Exam Practice: /ap-calculus-ab/exam-practice /ap-calculus-ab/exam-practice  Course Description: /ap-calculus-ab#/ /ap-calculus-ab#/

 Students won’t have the ability to text me or one another. Remind will send out a text if you sign up for it to give you a positive message, reminder, or to inform you I’m sick, out for a personal day, or attending a conference. 

 Every morning at 7:40 AM in the math office  Period 4-1, the first half  Students must come knowing exactly what they need help with – this is in their own best interest – it helps them to develop the ability to know what they don’t know  me at and I will try my best to get back to you

 We are never too old to become good at something, BUT, it doesn’t just happen. We have to work hard to make it happen.  There is better understanding when you have to explain the math to your partner and/or in writing.  Students need to understand the underlining concepts in order for math to stick.  Setbacks are an integral part to learning!!!  Leave your ego outside the door and know that you’re safe and welcome in my class.

 To have the students have the rigor of a college calculus 1 class, but with more examples and more explanations, while connecting all three key topics: limits, derivatives, and integrals.  The free response questions are culminating and most are application based.  The reading and writing is at a high level.

 Point System – quizzes, tests, hw, extra credit, and catch me system (check in engrade --- I don’t type in hw until the end of the quarter, so that students have more drive)  I round 94.5 to an A+ and all grades ending in 0.5 round up.  If a student ends up with an 89.4 and he/she feels they deserve the A, they must come see me and make a case for how they went above and beyond – extra help, class participation, preparation, helping others, paying attention

 Calculator Use: Only on 2 out of 6 of the free response questions and on #78-92 of multiple choice. That means that on #1-28 on multiple choice, there is no calculator allowed.  A graphing calculator appropriate for use on the exams is expected to have the built-in capability to: ◦ Plot the graph of a function within an arbitrary viewing window ◦ Find the zeros of functions (solve equations numerically) ◦ Numerically calculate the derivative of a function ◦ Numerically calculate the value of a definite integral
