The Development of Educational Options Have Changed the Landscape of Education By Wenting Deng Topic:

Why changed?  With the development of social and technology, it is creating both opportunities and challenges for traditional schools.  Nowadays, education becomes one of the important things in human life. Most people are aware of the necessity of a higher education. Different options can facilitate to different people what is they really need.

Options  charter schools  online education  home-schooling

Charter School  A charter school is an independently run public school granted greater flexibility in its operations, in return for greater accountability for performance. The "charter" establishing each school is a performance contract detailing the school's mission, program, students served, performance goals, and methods of assessment.

Charter School  Disadvantage: - small, isolated, and have limited resources -don’t always get along with each other  Advantage: -Already having building(s) ready for school - Having a community that’s committed to the school -The school district is supporting the concept

online education  Online learning is different in many respects from the traditional face-to-face learning we‘re all used to, primarily in the way we get our information and how we interact with instructors and classmates. Many people say they learn more online, and their retention is better too.

online education VS. traditional education  Traditional education: -Require books, handout materials -Have to in class, limited -One learning path  Online education: -Digital textbooks -Anytime, anywhere, unlimited -Learning path and pace determined by learned

home-schooling  Homeschooling is a type of education where children learn outside of a school setting under the supervision of their parents. The family determines what is to be learned and how it is to be taught, while following whatever government regulations apply in that state or country.

home-schooling  Disadvantages: -Not Enough Time -No Time for Work -Personal Space -Parent is not qualified as a teacher -They Just Don’t Listen -Lack of Socialization Advantage: - Personalized Schedule - Varied Learning Subject - Flexibility in Time - Flexibility in Curriculum - Knowing Your Kids - Getting Much Attention

Conclusion  In my personal opinion, I think that different educational options are products of the times. In the future, if we can create more educational options, it will bring more value for us.
