Moses’ First Question  Exodus 3:11 – “Who am I that I should go to Pharoah…”  He fled in fear for his life  Exodus 2:15  He’s content  Exodus 2:21  He’s just a shepherd  Exodus 3:1

Moses’ Second Question  Exodus 3:11 – “…and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”  He had stopped a fight between two Hebrews and his authority was questioned  Exodus 2:14  He had left his brethren there in Egypt  Exodus 4:18

Moses’ Other Questions  Exodus 3:13 – Who should I say sent me?  “I AM WHO I AM” Exodus 4:1 – What if they don’t believe me? God answers with signs

Moses’ Excuses  Exodus 4:10 – “I am not eloquent…but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”  Acts 7:22 – Stephen speaking to the council  He was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians  He was mighty in words and deeds

Moses’ Plea  Exodus 4:13 – “Oh my Lord, please send by the hand of whomever else You may send.”  This request angers God  God offers Aaron as a companion and spokesperson

Pharaoh’s First Question  Exodus 5:2 – “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go?”  Questions the existence of God  Questions the authority of God

Pharaoh’s Denial  Exodus 5:2 – “I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.”  Denies the existence of God  Denies the authority of God

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard…  Exodus 7:13 – “And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard.”  In response to Aaron’s rod  Exodus 7:22 – “and Pharaoh’s heart grew hard.”  In response to the first plague – Water becomes blood  Turns away

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard…  Exodus 8:15 – “he hardened his heart”  In response to the second plague – Frogs  Acknowledges God and asks for relief  Exodus 8:19 – “But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard”  In response to the third plague – Lice  Magicians acknowledge the hand of God

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard  Exodus 8:32 – “But Pharaoh hardened his heart”  In response to the fourth plague – Flies  Asks for intercession – vs. 28  Exodus 9:7 – “But the heart of Pharaoh became hard”  In response to the fifth plague – Livestock Diseased

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard  Exodus 9:12 – “But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh”  After the sixth plague – Boils  Exodus 9:35 – “So the heart of Pharaoh was hard”  After the seventh plague – Hail  Some of Pharaoh’s servant heeded the warning  Acknowledges the righteousness of God and his own sin

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard  Exodus 10:20 – “But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart”  After the eighth plague – Locusts  Asks forgiveness for this sin – vs.17  Exodus 10:27 – “But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart”  After the ninth plague – Darkness  Pharaoh is becoming more and more angry

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard  Exodus 14:8 – “And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt”  After the tenth plague – Death of the Firstborn  Ultimately this leads to his destruction

First Question  Moses asked “Who am I?”  So He said, “I will certainly be with you.” – Exodus 3:12  Pharaoh asked “Who are you?”  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” – Revelation 1:8

Second Question  Moses asked “How can I do what you’re asking me to do?”  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13  Pharaoh asked “Why should I obey you?”  “Because of these things [sins] the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience.” – Colossians 3:6

Actions  Moses questions God and obeys His words  If you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be a special treasure to Me… - Exodus 19:5  Pharaoh challenges God and disobeys His words  “They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.” – Titus 1:16

Results  Moses receives the blessings of the Lord and deliverance from Egypt  Pharaoh is cursed and swallowed up by the sea
