Lydians The Lydians lived lived northwest from the Phoenicians. The Lydians were known for making money. The Lydians were very wealthy because they lived on rich fertile soil with gold. The Lydians passed the coined money on to many other cultures.

Israelites The Israelites trace their origins as a people to Abraham. When Famine came to Canaan it made the people migrate. The Israelites lived peacefully in Egypt until a pharaoh enslaved them. Moses had lead a revolt against Egypt.

Phoenicia The Phoenicians wore purple because it was a royal color. They had lived in a colonies that spread through out Africa Sicily and the islands of Cyprus. The Phoenicians made the first Alphabet most like ours. The Phoenicians traded everything with trading partners such as their culture and knowledge.

Persians Cyrus the great was one of the best known for building the Persian Empire. The Persians had a standing army that meant the soldiers were paid full time. In 522 B.C. Darius the first became ruler. He had made couriers or messengers The messengers road on horseback.

Religion The Jews had their own religion because they believed in the old testament. Every year during the Passover holiday, Jewish families read the story of the Exodus. The Christians believed in both new and old testaments. The frame of the Islamic tradition is the Qur’an. The Qur’an contains the most sacred writings.

Important People Dido- She was the Legendary find and queen of Carthage. Moses- God spoke to Moses on top of a mountain and gave him the ten commandments. Cyrus- He built most of the Persians Empire. Darius- When Cambyses died there was a struggle of control. In 522 B.C. Darius became the Emperor.
