Warm Up for Today ◦ You were given a sentence strip as you entered class. On your paper, write the sentence given to you and diagram the simple subject and the simple predicate (verb).

Compound Subjects ◦ A compound subject consists of two or more subjects that are joined by a conjunction and that share the same verb. ◦ Example: Paris and London remain favorite tourist attractions. ◦ Example:Nelson Mandela or Archbishop will speak at the conference today.

Compound Verbs ◦ A compound verb consists of two or more verbs that are joined by a conjunction and that share the same subject. ◦ Example: The team played well but lost the game anyway. ◦ Example:The rain has fallen for days and is still falling.
