Does Argiope Argentata scent have an effect on Apis mellifera feeding behavior? By Zack Flowers, Peter Villa, Michael Wendell, Gideon Amaniel, Vincent Mendoza, and Wyatt Baquial

Intro The reason for using Argiope Argentata is because of their big size, and their availability since they are common in this area Argiope argentata is the scientific name to a Silver Garden Orb Weaver Spider. In our project our objective was to experiment if Apis mellifera could scence danger through scent

Method The method consisted of using control and experiment Petri dishes. The control was a filter paper with just hexane and the experiment had filter paper, hexane and the spider scent.

Results Type of insect p value=.9

Conclusion In conclusion, the data we collected is inconclusive. We accept the null hypothesis, which means our results could have happened by chance. We each have differing ideas on what happened, some of us think that wasps were the dominate factor.

Thank You! We would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Eben Goodale, Jim Berrian, James Hung and UCSD for giving us the time and consideration for our projects!
